Introduction (01_AAEFR_24)

Your Adobe After Effects journey begins with a tour of the main interface and how to create your first project and composition. We then import a short video clip into the new composition. This clip will be used as the background to the animated movie title text we go on to create.

Here’s the full movie trailer at the end of this course. The final scene with the movie title text zooming in is the one created in this series:

Do you need video clips to work with?

If you have a fantastic idea for a movie project but no video clips to work with, help is at hand! We used the online AI storyboarding application LTX Studio to generate the short video clips for our trailer, and to generate a soundtrack and voiceover. If you don’t have clips of your own this is a great way to create resources that fit your creative vision! Here are the main steps we followed in LTX Studio, after we’d created a FREE account:

1: The LTX Studio dashboard includes options to start ‘with an idea’ or ‘with a script’. We selected ‘Start with an idea’:

2: Enter the general ‘idea’ for your movie. We used an AI generated ‘voiceover’ created by chatgpt as our idea suggestion:

3: LTX Studio generates a storyboard with various scenes and a thumbnail image for each. You can regenerate a scene by changing the prompt and shot-type at any time:

4: Select the shot editor tab at the top of the window to regenerate an individual video clip. Four candidates are generated to choose between:

5: Add an appropriate soundtrack and a voiceover for the ultimate cinematic experience!

6: Export the sequence of scenes as a single video file.
